Increased Capacity Changes Due to Restriction Updates

Following recent Scottish Government announcements, we are delighted to announce that with effect from 26^th April we will be increasing the number of mourners who can attend a funeral service at Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley Crematorium to 50.

Our spacious Ceremony Hall can safely accommodate 50 seats, which can be arranged in family bubbles / household groupings and still allow for social distancing.

We will be using the Scottish Government’s ‘Check In Scotland’ Digital App for Test and Protect purposes.

This is a significant step forward, not least for bereaved families, who can now begin to celebrate the life of a loved one in an almost ‘normal’ manner.

However, safety is still paramount, and so the procedure we will be following at the Crematorium is as follows:

• Following arrival of the Hearse, The Funeral Director will bring forward the immediate family.
• One member from each family group/bubble will ‘Check In’ using the digital ‘Check In Scotland’ app on their mobile phone.
• Crematorium staff will invite them to take their seats. If we have been advised in advance of family groupings we will arrange the seats accordingly.
• The Funeral Director will then request extended family members to come forward.
• One member from each family group/bubble will ‘Check In’ using the digital ‘Check In Scotland’ app on their mobile phone.
• Crematorium staff will show the family members to their seats. If no seating plan has been submitted, the seats will be individually spaced within the Ceremony Hall.
• Finally, any remaining mourners up the maximum number of 50, will be asked to ‘Check In’ and take a seat.
• Mourners are asked not to move seats. This will ensure that all seats within the Hall are socially distanced in accordance with Government Guidelines.
• Upon leaving the Ceremony Hall at the end of the service, mourners must ‘Check Out’ of the Crematorium.
• To enable the Ceremony Hall to be cleared as quickly as possible, the main Ceremony Hall doors will be opened to allow an additional exit for mourners seated nearer these doors.
• The waiting room will not be used to accommodate additional mourners more than the permitted 50.

All mourners are required to wear a mask or face covering whilst they are in the Ceremony Hall and a foot operated hand sanitiser is available outside the building.

Our toilets will be opened fully and although Crematorium Staff will monitor them for cleanliness throughout the day, mourners use them at their own risk.

Once the maximum of 50 mourners are seated in the Ceremony Hall, no further mourners will be admitted and we can’t be held responsible for family members who fail to come forward when requested being refused access to the service.

Scottish Government advice still forbids families from shaking hands with mourners following the service and we would ask that mourners move through the building as quickly as possible. This will allow the Crematorium Staff to undertake a thorough clean of the Ceremony Hall prior to the arrival of the next funeral party.
